bon voyage!

I was supposed to do a long and thoughtful and detailed entry a while ago on the crazy rollercoaster that has been my life for the past few months or so. The rollercoaster fortunately let me get off on solid ground a couple months ago, after a turbulent yet ultimately incredibly fulfilling ride, but I think I had to take some time to process everything...

So much to document and reflect on but for now, I'll just have to say a rather inappropriate "screw it all" because I have a plane to catch in a few hours!

What a cheap thrill it is to be able to say that because...

For the first time in my life, I can honestly say and feel that I actually deserve to go on a vacation. There is definitely something to be said for working your little arse off and then taking off for an Aegean adventure.

Am off to discovery and relaxation and tourist archaeology and female bonding and souvlaki on the streets of GREECE.This is a place that has been so vivid in my mind just from pictures and images and now I get to take it all in for real. (Okay, I'll admit it... this probably has much to do with "Traveling Pants.")

So raising my glass of ouzo to a week in Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini!

How does one say "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" in Greek?

the blackest day of all

Yesterday, April 14th....

Black day for love, big day for noodles...

To be respectful of the ways of the motherland, T and I got this one out of the way ages ago... coincidentally, on February 14th. The American holiday that happened to fall on that exact day escapes me at the moment...

black mourning garb and mmm... black black noodles, excusing the obvious brown tinge

IMG_3664

clearly brokenhearted and trying to demonstrate said emotion with finger sculptures, only to massively fail

IMG_3661 [but secretly happy to be free of poopyheads, i.e. male species]

We then embraced the beauty in being able to watch the movie we really wanted to see without having to cater to anyone else's opinions. (I think we ended up watching "Definitely, Maybe").

We embraced singledom.

We embraced blackness.

happy belated black day y'all! meet me at 'bukkyong' for some 'jjajangmyun'!

p.s. who wants to go see mr. john mayer with me this summer?

pop quiz, hotshots*

Question 1:

Who uttered the following quote to Eunice today: "You're so beautiful. You're just so beautiful. I just want to put you some place where I could just stare at you all day long."

a. One of the students at work trying to get out of a timeout

b. The insanely cute Starbucks barista she's long admired from afar

c. The insanely old man in a suit at the gas station

d. A garden gnome

Question 2:

What did Eunice feel like doing after hearing the above from  [answer to Question 1] ?

a. Cry from sheer happiness.

b. Get her hearing checked. And her eyesight.

c. ROTFLHAO

d. Bathe in Lysol. Repeatedly.

Question 3:

Is the following statement True or False?

Despite popular belief that she was either exaggerating some previous incidents or that they were all due to pure coincidence, it turns out Eunice really does attract creepy old men while at the same time repelling twentysomething attractive ones.

I guess I don't have to include an answer key with this because Question 3 pretty much gave the other answers away... though I'm sure no one was expecting anything good to come of this quiz, knowing that this is me we're talking about.

But still, COME ON! IT'S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE! I have just suffered the indignity of the creepickiest thing ever said to me, from the oldest man to ever say it (though impeccably dressed and driving a fantastic car... which doesn't make it any better at all.)

Blech.

* Reference from Speed, the movie... in case you couldn't tell from the fact that I normally don't use words like 'hotshot. If you haven't seen this movie, you absolutely must. It's absolutely classical.
